Memorial Day is such a special day to remember all of those that have passed before us as well as all of those that fought for our freedom and continue to do so today. This day brings back memories as a child - visiting the graves as a family. Every memorial day we go to my mom's grave to leave flowers. This was the first year that Evie could help...There is something so surreal about being at my mom's grave with the sweet grand-daughter she will never meet - in this life anyway. I can only imagine the day when I will see her again and also get to see Evie and Mom meet for the first time in Heaven. I miss you everyday, Mom.

Memorial Day at the Ranch
Trevor and Evie headed west for the weekend while Dana and I headed east to celebrate a dear friend, Ashley's, graduation. I have to say I always get a little worried leaving Evie. Will Trevor remember to do this or that, will he be able to find the things in her bag, will he remember to feed her? But Trevor reminded me before I walked out the door - "Jen, I'm almost 40 years old, I can handle it." The pictures prove that she had the time of her life with her Dad, PaPa, Doodle, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Mandi and cousins, Reese and Davis.
little does she know there's no line on her pole
Evie and her PaPa
So glad I didn't know about this before I left!
This is priceless!
she insisted on wearing the glasses all day...too funny!

Last Day of School (Kid's Day Out)
Today was Evie's last day of school (that is, until the summer session starts June 4th). Her class had a teddy bear picnic and they were asked to bring their favorite teddy bear. Well, Evie doesn't really have a teddy bear, but she does have a pig, aka "Piggie". Piggie and Evie have been the best of friends since she was only a few weeks old (thanks, Holly!). We can't even think of going to bed without Piggie and anytime we're at home Piggie is always nearby. How excited she was to introduce him to all of her school friends...it was the cutest!

rain, rain, please GO AWAY!
We have had more rain this spring than I can ever remember. It sure makes the days dreary and long... so we decided to make the best of it and go outside with our raincoats and umbrellas. Evie thought she was pretty neat stuff and had fun hearing the rain hit the umbrella. As much fun as we had, we are sure hoping for a sunny tomorrow!

my little gardener
how are we going to break the binki habit?
can you see the dirt in her mouth? yuck!
she has to be the cutest thing I've ever seen!
So today I planned on getting all of my flowers and planting them. The weather felt like I should be planting mums instead of spring flowers...it was sooo chilly! Evie had THE BEST time helping me carry the flowers from pot to pot and especially enjoyed digging in the dirt - it was EVERYWHERE! We had quite a mess on our hands! If any of you need help planting, I'd be happy to send her your way... : )
