Farewell to the Jehlik's

This past weekend we threw a party for Jenny and Dan Jehlik...some dear friends that moved to Kansas City.  We were so sad to see them go, but we are so happy we came to know them and will always consider them special friends.  I am already planning a visit that way to see them and look forward to seeing their new home!
We love you, Jehlik family - you friendship is such a blessing!

it's officially summer!

Today was the first day we tried out Evie's new elephant pool.  It was quite a hit!  She had so much fun playing with the water the elephant's trunk sprays out and was not a bit happy when it was time to come inside for a nap.  And quite a nap she took (almost 3 hours)!  I think we'll have to make the elephant pool a daily affair!

Joon!

Evie has her first crush!  His name is Joon and he is the former exchange student of my in-laws.  He is such a sweet person whom we have come to know and love.  He has such a kind, gentle spirit and it's easy to see why Evie is so smitten with him!  Whenever she sees him, she just can't take her eyes off of him.  It is so funny to watch!  Here is a picture of me, Evie and Joon.

day at the zoo

Evie and I visited the zoo last week and had a great time.  She loved seeing all of the animals, especially the elephants.  We watched them for a good 20 minutes and she still walked away crying, "elephant!".  I have to say, I remember visiting the zoo as a child and how much I was scared of the Jungle building.  I never liked how humid it was, the animals in there (ie: snakes), and especially didn't like looking up to see all of the huge bats sleeping.  Well, I thought I had grown out of that, but apparently not.  We walked in and once I realized we couldn't turn around because of all of the people filing in behind us, I have never walked so fast.  NEVER AGAIN!  All in all we really had a fun day and hope to visit another time this year...everything but the Jungle, of course!
